After her modeling debut during Lakme Fashion Week Anushka did numerous campaigns for various brands, n she has done campaigns for the brands' Silk & Shine Whisper Nathella Jewelry and Fiat Palio etc. Anushka began to audition for film roles as an actor and attended an acting class along with her professional career as models. In 2008, Anushka Sharma made her acting debut with the movie Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi with Shah Rukh Khan. The actress took a day off to get ready for her screen test and refused to perform an unplanned version. Then, she was cast in three movies for Yash Raj Films. The film in which she appeared was portrayed as a young lady who got married to a middle-aged man (the character Shah Rukh Khan is playing). The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. Anushka appeared in the 2010 film "Badmash Company" with Shahid Kapoor Meiyang Chang, Vir Das. The movie received mixed praises. Anushka was in a movie called Band Baaja Baaraat with Ranveer, where she played an American Punjabi girl from middle class, who establishes her own wedding-planning company. The film was an unexpected success with a lot of praise. Anushka's 3-film contract at Yash Raj Films ended with the release of Band Baaja Baaraat.
